Roofing

I was up on the garage roof last week-end, tearing off shingles. It had two layers and was much easier than the house roof to remove with 4 layers plus cedar shakes. My eldest child L. (daughter) was my co-conspirator. She has a positive attitude and is hard-working which makes her a joy to work with.

I'm people-oriented not task-oriented so, with the right people I enjoy most tasks. I don't like repetitious tasks (solo) that require no brain-work. These burdens are a necessary part of every day life but, I really have to force myself to get going. I'm glad when these chores are done and love the final result. The procrastinator in me hates to get started.

It's funny how the view from the roof of the surrounding neighborhood is surprisingly pretty. Maybe it's the Aerial prospective that puts the commonplace in a new light. It reminds me of going on a late night walk with the dog. No one is awake and you feel as if the town and the night are yours alone. My midnight companion is the still of the night.

I still have side 2 of the roof to complete the job. A class mate of L's is putting on the new shingles. He is a union carpenter. It is nice to have an expert do the job right.

Thanks God for a healthy body. I couldn't do this work with-out my God-given health. Also thanks for a wonderful daughter who so willingly volunteers to help out.
